Planning approval has been sought by property developer Luxo Projects to build a development on the corner of Stamford Terrace and Marina Drive, where the former Lincoln Cove development office is located. Port Lincoln has been chosen for the development as there is awareness of the shortage of childcare and housing services, specifically in the marina area. Stage 1 is delivering essential community services to address these local needs.

Stage 1: Essential Community Services

Stage one includes a 716 square-metre childcare centre, four two-storey townhouses and 34 car parking spaces. The project is bringing much-needed childcare spaces for children 0-5 years old, as well as rental housing, which is in short supply in Port Lincoln. There is a very real and pressing need for childcare services in Port Lincoln and the southern Eyre Peninsula, as highlighted in the Regional Development Australia Eyre Peninsula’s 2023 study into Early Education and Care.

The development is addressing the shortage of childcare, specifically in the marina area, bringing much-needed services to families who have struggled to find adequate care in the region. This will enable families to work, study or enjoy respite with positive flow-on effects for economic growth and family wellbeing in Port Lincoln and the southern Eyre Peninsula.
